THE Brief

Raising the national profile of occupational health.

Over several years, Orbit Communications helped establish Occupational Health Awareness Week (OHAW) as a recognised UK-wide campaign championing the value of occupational health.

For OHAW2025, the objective was to position occupational health as a strategic partner to HR professionals.

Our Approach

  • Developed the strategy, theme, key messaging and targeted communications campaign for OHAW2025, centred on ‘Occupational Health: A Strategic Partner to HR’.
  • Led an engagement programme for partner organisations, delivering campaign briefings and a ready-to-use Communications Pack including template press releases, website and newsletter copy, social media content and campaign assets to enable partners to promote OHAW2025 through their own channels.
  • Commissioned and managed a UK-wide YouGov survey to inform campaign messaging and communications.
  • Produced a flagship HR Professionals campaign video from concept through to delivery for use on client’s social media and other channels.
  • Commissioned two thought leadership articles – Suffragettes to standards: ninety years on, women’s health must finally take centre stage and From cotton mills to ChatGPT: ninety years of keeping Britain well at work – for media placement and publication on the client’s digital channels.
  • Developed campaign content, key messaging and collateral across the client’s website, newsletters, blogs and social media channels.

Outputs & outcomes

Through our activity, OHAW2025 achieved significant professional engagement and national visibility, reinforcing SOM’s position as the authoritative voice for occupational health in the UK.

Campaign Highlights included:

  • 49 partner organisations supported the campaign, including the MS Society, the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD), NHS Tayside and Medigold Health.
  • 104 uses of #OHAW2025 by partner organisations – a 49% increase on 2024.
  • 63 reshares of SOM LinkedIn posts, with an additional 167 reshares from partner channels, significantly extending campaign reach.
  • Media coverage secured in Personnel Today and HR News, informed by the YouGov survey findings.
  • A flagship HR Professionals video, providing a lasting communications asset beyond the campaign itself.

Despite a competitive media environment, OHAW2025 delivered strong traction, meaningful partnership engagement and visible year-on-year growth in momentum and reach.

Our multi-year partnership has laid a strong foundation for continued success — strengthening national visibility, deepening stakeholder engagement and elevating understanding of occupational health’s strategic importance to UK employers.
