Supporting Sky’s major investment in Livingston.

Orbit Communications was appointed to provide strategic communications, stakeholder and community engagement support for Sky’s plans for a major new headquarters and campus in Livingston.
The proposals represented a significant long-term investment in West Lothian, creating a modern and sustainable workplace for around 3,000 employees.

Our Approach

  • Developed and delivered a comprehensive stakeholder and community engagement strategy.
  • Engaged proactively with local elected representatives, community organisations, businesses and other key stakeholders.
  • Supported the statutory pre-application consultation process, including two public consultation events.
  • Created and managed a dedicated consultation website and channels for community feedback.
  • Developed clear messaging around Sky’s long-term commitment to Livingston, employment, sustainability and wider community benefits.
  • Ensured feedback from stakeholders and the local community was communicated to the project team and considered as the proposals were developed.

Outputs & Outcomes

  • Built awareness and understanding of the proposals and the benefits of Sky’s continued investment in Livingston.
  • Helped maintain positive relationships with political, community and business stakeholders throughout the planning process, delivering support for the planning application.
  • Supported the successful delivery of planning permission via a delegated decision from West Lothian Council for the development, without having to be determined by a committee.
  • Helped reinforce Sky’s long-term commitment to Livingston and West Lothian.
