Proposals for 200 homes on Gretna’s old golf course set for digital consultation

The public will have the chance to view proposals and provide comments on the delivery of 200 homes being planned for the old golf course in Gretna via an online consultation event.

Alba Developments, which acquired the 28.5-acre site of the old golf course in 2019, is organising the digital event to inform the public about the plans as well as to gather the opinions of local people.

The online event will be available via the specific project website www.albdevelopments-gretna.co.uk and will take place from 4pm to 8pm on Thursday 11th June.  Consultants will be available throughout the event to answer questions and receive feedback.

Planning Permission in Principle (PPP) was granted by Dumfries & Galloway Council in 2017 and Alba Developments are now preparing their more detailed Approval of Matters Specified in Conditions (AMSC) for Dumfries & Galloway Council.

The mix of new houses will include and 2 / 3 bed bungalows / terraces and 4 bed family homes with 20% of the new development affordable housing.  The site will also include open space and the provision of a new cycleway and footpath connections through the new neighbourhood and the surrounding footpath network.

Shane Tickelpenny, Managing Director from Alba Developments commented:

“We are delighted to be putting forward our proposals to the local community for this exciting development and look forward to the public’s involvement in shaping these proposals.”

“These are unusual times and ordinarily we would be looking to organise an event in the local area but, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Scottish Government has issued guidance allowing this kind of online engagement event.”

“We are very proud of our plans at Gretna and hope it will inject new life to the village. This site will bring much needed family and affordable homes to the area and our investment will generate an economic boost and attract new families to the area”

Once the event finishes, the public will also be able to submit feedback via the website.
