Housebuilder donation to improve emergency accommodation

A housebuilder has donated furniture used in Show Homes for its new development near Strathaven to the local authority to improve emergency accommodation for people suffering from domestic abuse.

Lovell Homes has donated furniture from Show Homes at their Borland Walk development in Glassford to North Lanarkshire Council who will use it to improve emergency accommodation for those suffering domestic abuse.

Furniture donated includes sofas, tables and chairs along with items such as vases, curtains and window blinds.

Borland Walk contains a total of 36 properties with a mix of 2, 3 and 4 bedroom houses and, although some Show Homes remain open to complete the sale of the final units at the development, Lovell Homes has donated the bulk of the furniture from the other Show Homes.

Kevin McColgan, Scotland Regional Managing Director for Lovell Homes, said: “Its great we are able to help North Lanarkshire Council in this small way by donating furniture to help people who need emergency accommodation.”

“We started construction on Borland Walk in 2019 and although there are still some units available, we are always looking to see what positive legacy we can leave in a local area after construction and this assistance is part of that effort.”

Gillian Whitehead, Housing Solutions Manager said: “We are grateful to Lovell for kindly donating furnishings from their show home.  These items have been distributed among several new tenants requiring assistance with furnishing their new home.  These will make a real difference to them, turning their house into a home that they can enjoy living in.”
